At the Leadership Development Initiative (LDI), we understand the importance of practical learning and its impact on students’ overall growth. Our Policy on Societies allows students at IITGN to establish and run their own interest-focused groups. These societies provide a bridge between theory and real-world events, creating a dynamic learning environment.

Terms and Jurisdiction

Each society represents a specific field or interest and operates independently with creativity and freedom. We emphasize the importance of respecting others’ rights and adhering to institute policies and laws. Societies should not be used for personal or commercial purposes.

Registration of New Societies

To start a society, interested students need to fill out the Society Formation form (Refer to Annexure A) and submit it to LDI. We evaluate proposals based on their rationale, alignment with real-world developments, and compatibility with IITGN’s values. Once approved, societies must appoint their leadership within two weeks. While societies have flexibility in their structure, we recommend key positions for effective functioning.

Society Mentor

Every society must have a faculty mentor for one year. Mentor details should be provided in the Society Formation Form (Refer to Annexure A).

Membership and Reporting

Any IITGN student can create and lead a society, fostering diversity and inclusivity. Societies should actively engage with students beyond their generation to maintain an “active status.” Regularly documenting activities, meeting minutes, progress, and prospects is essential. These records enable evaluation, funding decisions, and representation in IITGN forums.
