On 16th April, the LDI successfully hosted the grand finale of one of its flagship event Simply Speaking, which showcased the research work of students from different departments of IITGN. The event had three stages: a workshop on effective presentation skills held on 10th April, a peer review session on 14th April, and the finale on 16th April.
25 students from various departments competed in the finale, where they presented their research in 3 slides in 3 minutes using simple language. The judges of the six member panel, including Prof. Jooyoung Kim, Prof. Prasanna Venkatesh, Prof. Nithin George, Ms. Payal Vaswani, Ms. Aditi Savaliya, and Mr. Satadru Chakraborty, evaluated the presentations.
The workshop led by Prof. Abinaya Sampath and the peer review session helped students strengthen their research communication skills and prepare for the finale. Apart from highlighting the research work of students, the event emphasized the importance of research communication. It provided a platform for students to present their
research in simple and understandable language, making it accessible to a wider audience. The event also underscored the significance of communicating research findings to the public, especially in a way that can be easily understood by laypeople. It encouraged researchers to take informed initiatives to connect with the real world and communicate their research findings at the grassroots level.
The winners of the competition were Priyank Oza, who won the first prize of INR 20,000, Aparna Rathi, who won the second prize of INR 10,000, and Aditi Saha, who won the third prize of INR 5,000. Special mentions were awarded to Aaqib Khan and Shikha Dhakar.
