Unveiling the Art of Simply Speaking: A Triumph of Research Communication at IITGN

We are thrilled to bring you the exhilarating highlights of “Simply Speaking,” an event that transcended the boundaries of traditional research presentation. Organized by the Leadership Development Initiative (LDI) at IIT Gandhinagar, Simply Speaking was a celebration of effective communication, a pivotal skill for any aspiring leader.Unleashing the Power of Concise Communication: In a world where ideas shape the future, conveying research with precision is an art. Simply Speaking challenged participants to distill the essence of their research into a captivating 3-minute presentation. This wasn’t merely a competition; it was a journey towards self-discovery and the mastery of articulation.
Asking the Right Questions, Finding the Right Answers: More than just a showcase of research, Simply Speaking became a tool for personal development. Participants were not only tasked with presenting their ideas but also with asking themselves the critical questions that deepen their understanding of the motivation and consequences of their research.
Open to All, Bridging Backgrounds: This event was a melting pot of intellect, open to anyone passionate about pitching their research. The challenge was to make the presentations accessible to individuals with diverse backgrounds, fostering an environment where ideas could transcend disciplinary boundaries.
Peer Review and the Crucible of Improvement: On the 14th of October, a peer-review session took place, where 20 research students meticulously evaluated each other’s presentations. This collaborative effort was a testament to the supportive community at IITGN, where excellence is not just encouraged but expected.
The Grand Finale: A Star-Studded Panel of Judges: The pinnacle of Simply Speaking unfolded on the 15th of October, as finalists presented their ideas to a distinguished panel of judges. The eminent jury comprised Prof. Sharmishta Majumdar, Prof. Neeldhara, Prof. Himanshu, and Mr. Manoj Singh Rana. Their expertise added a layer of scrutiny and validation to the event, elevating it to new heights.
Triumph of Minds: The programme resonated exceptionally well with the PhD community at IITGN. The thirst for effective communication and the drive to innovate was palpable in the air.
Honourable mentions were also bestowed upon Aniket Rajnish, Rik Chakrabarty, and Surbi Kherewale.
Rewards and Recognition: The coveted first prize came with a substantial reward of ₹15,000 each, while the third prize winners received ₹5,000 each.
